Hong Kong Electric Clean Energy Fund

 

Our school has successfully applied for a funding of $100,000 under the Hong Kong Electric Clean Energy Fun 2011/12 for promoting renewable energy project in our school. This project can not only bring about interesting and daily-life learning experience to students, but also build up a passion for and understanding of environmental conservation and renewable energy.

School Visit by Guests from Zhejiang Province

Leaders, principals and teachers of the Luqiao Experimental Middle School (路橋實驗中學) and the Education Bureau from Taizhou, Zhejiang Province (浙江省台州市) and professor from the Zhejiang Normal University (浙江師範大學) visited our school on 14 November 2011. We demonstrated our learning and teaching strategies, especially on creative learning, in the visit. In addition, we shared teaching strategies by lesson observations, presentation of school-based learning materials, students' assignments and discussions among teachers, students and parents.

The 34th Speech Day cum Prize Presentation Ceremony

Our 34th Speech Day was held at the Tuen Mun Town Hall on 11/11/11. Dr. TSUI Luen-on, graduated from the first matriculation class of our school and being the Chairman of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation of the EDB, was invited to officiate the ceremony and delivered a speech. Mr. YUNG Po-shu, Principal Education Officer (N. T.) of the EDB, representatives from the Liaison of the Central People's Government (中聯辦) in the HKSAR and Mr. NG Choi-wah, member of the Meizhou CPCCC (梅州市政協) were also guests of honours of the ceremony and presented prizes to our students. Students from our school and St. Catharine's School For Girls (Kwun Tong) performed in the ceremony. An Art Exhibition was also held at the Exhibition Hall of the Tuen Mun Town Hall.

Inter-school Drawing Competition and Art Exhibition at the Tuen Mun Town Hall

An inter-school drawing competition among primary and secondary schools in Tuen Mun and Yuen Long was held by our school this year. The theme of the competition is "Harmonious Community & Sweet Home". An art exhibition was held at the Tuen Mun Town Hall from 10 November 2011 to 11 November 2011 to display drawings of the winners. Art work, both 2D and 3D, created by our students and the Miu Fat Buddhist Monastery were also displayed in the exhibition.

Cultural Fortnight Opening Ceremony

A series of programmes including movie show, radio broadcast, Japanese class, French class, food stall, forum, debate, photo-taking of national costumes, stall games and variety show will be held during the fortnight from 7/11/2011 to 18/11/2011. The opening ceremony was officiated by our Principal, Mr. T. M. Mak. Our F.5 exchange students, Helga Kristin from Iceland and Reynders Goele from Belgium shared other students their life in Hong Kong in the ceremony.

F.1 Life Camp

Participants: All F.1 students

 

A life camp was held for all F.1 students. The objectives of the life camp were developing students’ potential, establishing students’ group spirit, enhancing students’ sense of belonging to the school, equipping students’ with different life skills.

 

Through different interactive activities and inspiring task games, students learnt to participate in group works and collaborate with peers. Debriefing sessions were attached to the last part of most activities, where students learnt self-evaluation, admitting mistakes from themselves and accepting others’.

 

26 F.4 and F.5 guidance prefects were invited to join the camp and be the group leaders to encourage the F.1 students to enjoy the camp. In the task games on the second day, some guidance prefects were being the facilitators and demonstrators and they were critical to the success of the programs.
